Sea to Sky Gondola, Squamish, B.C.

With winter almost behind us and summer just around the corner it’s time to think about planning your next outdoor adventure. If you happen to be in the Vancouver area I would highly recommend taking a trip up the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler and making a stop at the Sea to Sky Gondola located near Squamish. This gondola rises 2900 feet up Mount Habrich and provides the rider with sweeping views of Howe Sound and the city of Squamish along the way.

Once you reach the top there are numerous hiking trails you can take ranging from 500 meters to over 10 km. Some trails are close to the top and loop in and out of the coastal forest, some will provide stunning views of the mountains and the water below, and some will take you into the backcountry to pristine alpine areas.

Also at the top you will find the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge which spans 100 meters across a canyon and provides spectacular views of both peaks and valleys.

The Sea to Sky Gondola is open year-round and passes can be purchased in advance. The gondola, as well as the suspension bridge and some of the trails, are wheelchair accessible. At the top you will also find dining and shopping. After you’ve spent a good amount of time exploring trails and soaking up those mountain views head back down and start planning your return trip!

  1. wow, those views are just stunning! My hubby keeps wanting to go to Squamish but he wants to go in the winter so he can ski. But I’m thinking I’d love to see it in the warmer months so I can see those beautiful mountains 🙂

    1. It’s definitely become a year round destination. I actually love it in the fall as well when the leaves start to change colour and some of the crowds have gone. Thanks for reading 🙂

  2. Taking a ride on the gondola sounds like a fun experience and great way to get a different perspective of the surrounding area. The views are incredible. I like that there’s even hiking trails at the top and even more stunning views. Looks like you had wonderful weather to soak in the scenery. I’ll have to add this to the list for the next time we’re out west. Thanks for sharing. Linda

    1. Yes it is definitely a beautiful place. Next time I think I’d like to do a few more of the trails…being bear aware of course…and take more pictures 🙂 Hope you get to check it out one visit.
