London may not have the largest or most popular Christmas markets in Europe, however their window displays and festive lights during the holiday season are absolutely spectacular and well worth the visit. This is part two of my Christmas in London blogs. The first blog focused on some daytime Christmas decorations and activities and can be found here…this one will be all about some of the evening lights that we sought out.
The day after we arrived we booked an evening light tour (with Golden Tours) that started at 4:15. This was the perfect time as we were able to see a lot of the displays during twilight when photos were easier to capture. The tour started near Victoria Station and so we made our way past Westminster Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament before heading to the well-known shopping areas.

There were lots of buildings that were decked out for the Christmas season and sitting atop the double-decker bus was an amazing way to view them.

We drove along Strand Street passing the Savoy…

and then it was on to Regent Street with its splendid angel displays…

before turning on to Oxford Street…

and cruising past Fortnum and Mason.

This tour was a highlight for me. It took us past so many popular spots and gave us a great orientation to the city and where we wanted to return…which we did the next evening, beginning where we left off at Fortnum and Mason.

We got there just before it started getting dark and had a good look at their outside window displays. These were by far the best ones we saw!

Inside they do a moving centerpiece in the middle of the store. Apparently it changes every year and this year it was pinecones.
We bought some treats for family and friends back home and then it was on to Bond Street. This street is lined with lavish shops and their displays are stunning! If there is one place not to miss this is the place!

We made our way back along Regent Street and Oxford Street soaking up those impressive twinkling lights one more time. It was a trip of a lifetime and one I will be dreaming about during the holiday season. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Cheers to you London!! We can’t wait to return.
More dazzling lights! The window displays at Fortnum and Mason are wonderful. I feel like our stores don’t put in as much effort. Merry Christmas Linda! Maggie
