The VanDusen Botanical Garden puts on the most spectacular holiday lights display throughout their garden areas, but this year it will not be seen by the public. Rising numbers of Covid-19 cases have caused more cancellations…and this time it is the seasonal light displays throughout the city. Even though the gardens reman open, the annual Festival of Lights will not happen. However, having been last winter I will share some of my photos and I hope you enjoy having a look at them.
When you first enter VanDusen Botanical Garden you will be struck by the multitude of lights surrounding the pond and reflecting in the water. It really will take your breath away.

Within the garden, tree-lined pathways become lit up with hundreds of strands of lights. The actual number used throughout the garden for the displays is over one million!
Giant globes suspend from trees, while vibrant coloured lights emerge from the sides of trails.

Strands of lights in shades of blues and purples dangle from overhead.
There’s Santa’s sleigh, lighted toadstools, and umbrellas falling from the sky.
As well as a giant hummingbird hovering over a pond.

Grab a hot chocolate and follow walkways that dazzle with an incredible variety of colour. The displays cover ten acres within the garden.

The lights cover flower beds, trees, shrubs, and garden areas, creating quite the spectacle. The reflections in the ponds blend seamlessly with what’s above.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Holiday!
